How to Become Rich

Want to know how to become rich? Becoming rich is not the easiest task! If it were, there would be a lot more rich people in this world. It is possible to get rich but, unless you were born into wealth, or you inherited a lot of money to invest in the next, greatest thing, you will have to work hard to make that money.  

The most successful rich people made their fortune by anticipating a market, not by following a market. They bucked the court of public opinion and went against the grain to build a product or service that surprised the market and built a client base from scratch. They saw an unfulfilled need and filled it. Once there was a man who wanted to become rich by creating a paper product with a sticky back, designed for people to write notes and post them on a desk, computer or wall. Another ingenious soul created a product that would erase mistyped words or words written in error by painting a white, fast drying liquid over the error. These are simple, ingenious ideas that made people rich. Whether it is a better product, a better way of performing a task or a well known item used in a different way the way to become rich is to do something different, not to make something in a different color or size.

Once you have your idea, you must protect it legally by trademark, copyright or other legal protection. You can’t become rich if someone steals your idea. It is worth investing in a good attorney and business manager to get the business, product or service on its feet. Eventually, you will need an advertising program and worker bees to get your company to grow, but don’t be afraid to start small. Every day we hear about fortunes built on a great idea by a former house wife or ditch digger. You don’t have to start rich to get rich.

Beware the temptation to invest too much money too soon or to be hypnotized into dreaming your wealth. Be practical and test your assumptions. Understand that investors and business loans do not come without a solid business plan and a good business head. You can get rich as an entrepreneur with great ideas, but only if you, or someone else, is a good business manager. If you aren’t that person, make sure you hire one. If you think becoming rich sounds like a lot of work, you are right. In the 1980s, Bill Gates heard the complaints about the absence of a standardized computer operating system and worked hard to fill the gap. There are those who will argue whether his is the best operating system but no one can argue with the fact that he built an empire by filling the need. Get creative. Don’t give up. Get rich.
